I have been with my mobile service provider for five years now. I didn't even realise that so much time has past but due to the length of time I have been signed up, I see myself as a "loyal customer" and expect to be treated accordingly.
I have two phones with this provider, both of which are on prepaid, but for most of this time it has mostly been the one phone that I have had with them as the other one is new. I am sorry to report that I feel like my phone company has done nothing to "wow" me, ever. But here are my main gripes and disappointments with them.
1. Annoying marketing calls.
I am constantly receiving marketing calls from my service about switching to a plan, despite having said "not interested" in the past. Here are the things I liked least about the marketing calls:
- One marketer when arranging a time to call back made a joke about "its a date". It wasn't. I did not know the person from a bar of soap and was not amused or flattered. This did not lead to me signing any phone plan.
- Lack of anything cool offered. There were no incentives like a cool phone or anything offered, I have yet to be offered a plan with a cool phone despite saying I am not interested in plans without a phone. I have a cool phone by the way, but I had to get it myself because my network is not good.
- Lack of listening/empathy. I told the last marketer that I was unimpressed with tech support and their customer care line and he barely bothered to listen but simply launched into a speel about signing a plan. I did not.
2. Bad tech support.
I phoned tech support/customer care and was told that they only help people on plans. I told them I would never sign a plan with them. I sorted out my own problem, at my own expense. I was annoyed that prepaid customer got treated differently to customers on a plan. If it was meant to encourage me to sign up for a plan it had the opposite effect
3. No cool rewards
My network provider has a reward type scheme, but nothing I have ever gotten has been cool or awesome. Most of the rewards have been low level junk that I could do without. I used to dream of winning a free phone or camera, but now I see that that will never happen.
I look forward to finding a new phone network in the future
